Pressure washer loses prime?

How does it lose prime when I squeeze the trigger for a good 10 seconds to make sure water is flowing through before starting to purge out any air? I also turn the hose on before attaching ot to blow the air out of that also. I don't get it.

Is this electric or gas powered?

If you have a hose hooked up to it and the hose is turned on, your not loosing it's prime. Either it's not on or only partially turned on. If nothing comes out when you try to use it, maybe your pump is broken.,,
