what old Snapper parts to save

my 11 yr old 21 inch walk behind self propelled snapper died, (part of the short shaft on transmission was damaged) .
Neighbor sold me an almost identical 2 yr old snapper fro a great price.
what parts should I salvage off the old mower.?
any advice?

Well if your plan is to keep the newer one running for the next 20 years, I would keep the old mower if you have a place to store it. If not, then remove the blade, engine, wheels, wheel adjusters, drive assembly. Pretty much strip the deck and keep the spare parts. Keep the cables as they tend to snap.

Regarding engine..I would keep...ignition coil/CDI....carburetor...gas tank....all cables...

Typically decks rust out before anything else.

that snapper trans shaft is easy to replace.
