Rockhill motor oil 10w40 and 20w50

My friend gave me a few quarts of this oil it looks quiet old it says it meets api SH/SJ and the label on the bottom says dist by ashland brands in florence kentucky.
It had 1996 in small print on the bottom label but i can't really find much information on this and what is rockhill?

Ashland?
Probably a Valvoline product, probably very similar to the VWB of the day.
It'll thus likely have Valvoline's only very recently abandoned sodium add pack, which some knowledgeable folks actually prefer.
These are not really ancient API specs and cars we've had as late as our old '99 Accord called for an API SJ.
