I've never understood this, many greases, TRC crown & chassis for example, have worse specs when they're the moly version.

Is it because the testing doesn't really show the value of having moly in the grease? Is it worth having moly in the grease at all?

Or perhaps it takes a while for the moly to "activate" so the testing doesn't really utilize the moly.

most moly grease have the moly in place of the "normal" SP add pak that adds the EP values and as such the moly will show lower 4 ball etc.

there is something a lot of people don't realize.

moly is a good ep additive but will not stay on unless your thickener is good. what I do is show people how the moly grease is good with the bearing machine. it plates up and you cannot stop it because it is really slick with the moly. I then add water to it. most ep greases will not hold up to water and then the bearing will stop because the moly will then go away. just because it has moly in it does not make it a good grease. you need to look at the whole picture.
