If price is a concerne go with the motorcraft. If your changing every 3-4,000 miles you really won't see a difference in these 2 products. I would use Havoline 10w30 year round in your Dodge Durango. If it goes below 10F in your area then use Havoline 5w30.

I really like Chevron, Havoline and Motorcraft dino oils. They give the consumer a real value on a great product. I personally use Havoline because its always in stock at Walmart, but I would be just as happy with Motorcraft.

Chevron is next to impossible to find around here. Havoline is about the same for some reason, just never see it on the shelf. Price isn't really a concern, it's just that if I can save 60 cents and get the same quality then why not?

Why Havoline? Just curious......

Havoline is available most places and it has slightly better anti-Wear chemistry than Pennzoil and Motorcraft. And for the price you can't buy better engine protection!

I was thinking of doing a similar switch. I posted a question and it came up that the 5w30 motorcraft is not raved about like the 5w-20 which seems to be part synthetic. If you are not using 20wt I would stick to the Penz.

Since the topic poster lives where these oils are available how does these four different anti-wear chemistries of low cost 30wts " under 1.40 a quart " compare ? Just curious what the general thoughts are .

Just because it's not raved about does not mean it won't hold it's own .

Look at the driving conditions and TBN at the end of the 3k interval . It is still quite high for a dino . No moly either

I have a 2000 Dodge Durango with the 5.2L engine. Been running Penn 10w30 in it since pretty much the beginning. I'm down to my last 2 quarts of the Penn and after reading the rave reviews of the Motorcraft oils here I was wondering how it stacks up against the Penn. It's about 60 cents cheaper than the Penn. Just wondering how people here feel about it when compared to the Pennzoil.

Which is which? Havoline is the only one I see named.

Motorbike, are those 4 oils you mentioned in order of their appearance on your previous post? If so, the Conoco product looks like the clear winner:

Phosphorus 2217
Zinc 1893
Magnesium 467
Calcium 4517

Yep in order . The Conoco is 17 bucks a case .

I put it in my mother in laws car a year ago

I think I might should change it sometime ... soon cause she forgets about things like that

But me ? Never LOL

I don't think I've ever seen an add pack like that in any dino oil...even in the Delo oils. Makes me wonder why more people don't jump on the Motorcraft/Conoco bandwagon with numbers like these.

Cause most of us here including me are really just splitting hairs when it comes to motor oil

.

Whether we like it or not Walmart's Supertech brand of motor oil will make practically all motors last longer then ones desire the keep the car if used sensibly.

It's just might be the MC synthetic blend is a better overall oil than Delo400. Will wait when the 10w-30 and 15w-40 becomes synthetic blend...that is awesome...

Were it true that phosphorus ruins the catalytic converter, your mother in law's converter ought to be blown right out with 2217 of phosphorus. But I bet it's working just fine.
