Schaeffers 700/9000 70,000 Oil still in.

Cat 3406 Kenworth t800 1st column 10k on oil ( sampled 9/14/06) 587k on the rig. Schaeffers supreme 7000 15-40 Blend. 2nd column is with 20k on oil with 1 gallon of 7000 add. 3rd column 30k on oil 1 gal of schaeffers 9000 4-40 straight synthetic fill. 4th column 40k on oil 1 gal of 9000 add. 5th column 56k on oil 1 gal of 9000 fill. Last column 71k on oil 1 gal of 9000 add. Truck currently has 648,000 miles on it and 71k on oil. Which has Not been changed!

looking real good, the old Cat mech must be

my Cat cert mech wouldnt believe your samples either
he would throw it away and put RotellaT and Fram filter.
your silicone is amazing, may I ask what air filter?

Looks great. I just picked some 9000 up myself- my biggest complaint with your oil is how difficult is was to find it. But I have four cases now, so I should be fine for awhile. I ran Amsoil for awhile and it spiked my iron, so I think using or alternating between Schaeffers when I can find it and Delo when I can't will lower my wear numbers.

Every day fleetguard air filter.
Not checked the tbn. Not an issue imo.
Yes iron is climbing at a snails pace and still below abnormal, let alone severe.

Most likely change at 85k.

O.K, I respect your opinion. I would think checking the TBN is important. Correct me if I'm wrong but if you have very low or 0 TBN doesn't your engine get acidic?

I'm going to Schaeffers a try due to the UOA's i've read.

do you have the sump capacity the Cat 3406 has? 10 gallons, having this many gallons will allow for easier long drain intervals, and better UOA results.
