Is it predominately Fords and Hondas?

I don't understand why it's so difficult for me to find many oils, e.g. PP in 5w-20.

My 05 Dodge Grand Caravan uses 5w/20. I like Havoline. My local Alco/Duckwall store carries it in 5W/20 but I have found it in none of the Wal-Marts.

Going from memory, the following OEMs use 5w-20.

1) Ford
2) Mercury
3) Lincoln
4) Chrysler
5) Dodge
6) Jeep
7) Toyota*
8) Honda
9) Acura
10) Mazda
11) Mitsubishi
12) Hyundai

Who doesn't? :
1) Chevy
2) GMC
3) Buick
4) Pontiac
5) Saturn
6) Nissan
7) Infiniti
8) Lexus
9) Toyota
10) Subaru
11) Volvo
12) BMW
13) Jaguar
14) MB
15) Cadillac
16) Saab
17) Audi
18) VW
19) Kia
20) Isuzu
21) Mini
22) Land Rover

*- some models only.

The reason for the lack of 5w-20 avaliability is due to the age of vehicles equipped with 5w-20. Most of these vehicles are still quite new (+/- 5 years), and many of these vehicles are either in fleets or are still serviced by dealerships and/or independent shops. Few DIYers drive 5w-20 equipped vehicles, hence the little demand. Blenders sell a lot of their 5w-20 product in bulk to service stations and dealerships. Also, remember the thick heads. There are many out there who always substitute 5w-30 for 5w-20.

It took a LONG time for 5-30 to be accepted as adequate. And, to be fair, the old 5-30's may not have been as good as the new SM, GF-4, 5-20's. Anyway, old habits die slowly.

My 2005 Hyundai specs 5W20 and 5W30 hot weather.

For whatever reason, I never see 5W20 in the 5 Qt jugs, only in Quarts. Not at WallyWorld, AA, or AZ anyway. They have lots of others in Gallons/5 Quart jugs, but never 5W20.

Truthfully this engine exhibits no difference in performance or noise regardless of 5W20, or 5W30, dino or syn, and many different brands. Starting at 5000 miles, it's on a 7500 mile OCI diet of M1, VSOT, and Amsoil filter from here on out.

It will JUST have to do.

All brands mentioned on your xW-20 list gets xW-30 in all markets except NA, Canada and Japon (where the car makers states that xW-20 is only for fuel economy). Many thick heads around then ..
