Yes, AMSOIL HDD is Series 3000 5w-30 Diesel oil.

Maybe you should try a thicker oil.

If I'm not mistaken the manufacturer recommends 5w-40 or 15w-40 in this engine. It might be a good idea to follow their recommendations while under warranty.

That copper looks bad and I personally don't like lead that high either. This is obviously bearing wear that could be reduced with a higher viscosity.

Check for air leaks in the induction system. Silicon looks high.

Pretty amazing TBN at that mileage. 1ppm iron per 1000 miles is awfully good, too!

I was thinking the high lead was coming from excessive dirt injestion and that was why I didn't rule out dirt as a cause of the high silicon and not sealant.

The copper is more likely to be leaching from the oil cooler. Not uncommon in new GM vehicles.

Wouldn't chromium and iron (and maybe Ni, too)likely be higher if that was all from ingested dirt?
