Which oil?

Almost forgot - looks like it's coming down after first factory fill - 5K on first oil. I always wonder about that.

The iron looks kinda high when broken down per thousand miles. However, as Patman pointed out the wear metals per thousand are higher the first few thousands miles of a trend.

Its to early to give up on your Amsoil yet. Hope you will post your 20,000 mile results.

I think it's a combo of still breaking in and cleaning the initial 5K oil change.

The trend is right and the oil looks to have held up fine. (only 4K miles isn't much) TBN, oxi, and nitration good. Vis starts at 11, so that's about perfect.

This may sound funny - it's almost a shame to use this good oil for so short - to essentially flush out the 5K factory oil. But it's fine that you changed it - what oil did you put in?

I'm so old school on some things - I just can't buy and new car and leave the factory oil in for longer than 1K.

The oil was replaced with the same- Series 3K. The maintenance intervals as prescribed by the factory are 5K Miles, 10K miles (or one year), then every 10K miles or one year thereafter. Putting 9K miles on the vehicle in a year is pushing it for me- the oil change coincides with the 1 yr. service interval, which also matches a required brake fluid change out at 24 months.

I'm optimistic that the Series 3K will hold up will with one year of "short trip" driving. I plan on sampling again at the next change in 12 months.
