Analysis update on Schaeffer's Mineral Moly Bond 15w40 . This is now the 3rd drain

I have some of Schaeffers Moly Bond mineral oil analysis and thought maybe this might draw some interesting points, especially when you're talking about extending drains with heavy extreme loads,with heavy acceleration and some idle time sitting in one place dependant on nothing more than air flow from the cooling fans unlike regular engines.

This is Schaeffers plain mineral and has no PAO base at all. That is the difference between the blend and this mineral and maybe a slight difference in the additives to offset what the pao offers.

This is one of Davids customers up in NC.

Linkbelt crane with a cummins 8.3 ltr engine.
Unit works in extremely dusty conditions.
Engine currently has 3,501hrs total engine time.
Oil drain intervals for this equipment is 250hrs
by the manufacture.

First drain had 341hr with recommended increase
to 415hrs

Second drain had 436hrs with recommended
increase to 510hrs.

3rd oil drain was done 10/03/02

Bob, I forgot to tell you what else this customer was happy about!
"I think because of the moly in moly bond x200 the engine turns over more freely in the winter months than before. A very noticeable differance" Bob, most of my other excatvating contractors say the same. Bob,you being down south probability don't see this as I do. David

I have some samples also from an 8.3 (Rotella T) that I could share for comparison - they would have all had 250 hrs. on the oil. (different application)

Con, dig them analysis papers out and post them. Only thing we ever ask is the post presents the same #'s on the analysis sheet. Look forward to seeing them.

David, You're right, never have anyone noticing that is it never gets cold enough down here to worry about it.

For all you drag racers out there, these are very impressive numbers. These are a lot harsher conditions than your Firbirds or Cameros will ever see on the dragstrip. Very impressive indeed. No wonder the farmers like this stuff.
 
I sure would like to see these numbers on my truck, and I'd never change oil. These numbers are so good I just have to ask the following:
1. What type oil filtration system? Do they have a bypass filter system?
2. How many quarts make-up oil?
3. Were any of the filters changed during this period, including air cleaner?
In my younger life, in the oil fields of New Mexico, we calculated 40 miles for each 1 hour of operation on our equipment. 300 hours=12,000 miles. For those who may be wondering, I must not have been a good employee in the oil fields as I still have all 10 fingers.
 
What's really interesting Johnny is david and I both see some extremely good #'s for this mineral based oil. We have quite a few that come back extending drains.

Vetteman, here are your answers to the 3 questions! I agree the numbers do look great!

#1-OEM filtration system 2 filters ,1 was a full flow and not change between intervals.

#2-make-up oil can't say for sure, but serviceman does not think so. ( I asked him about this)

#3-no filters changed during this period, including air filter, but air filter was cleaned every 40 hrs. and then install a new one at oil change.

I am glad I put the Schaeffer's 15W40 in my 2001 PSD with 2K at change. And I'm running this one with out a bypass.

Vetteman, I think you will be very happy with schaeffers 15w40. I too have a ton of customers using it in thier PSD and they love it.

Dave, Thanks for the suggestion.I got some of the #131, but I use it in my 2000 Mazda in the gas tank. Seems to work great. On my next order I may get a case and try it in the diesel fuel.
Believe it or not but I bought a case (4Gal) of the #139 Schaeffer's Soy Shield for my diesels. I can't get Bio Diesel, so the additive gives me some of those properties, ie. clean fuel lines, lubricating and cleaning the injectors. I just got it, so I can't give you of info on it.
I also have a gallon of Diesel Treat 2000 left, so I will add it in the winter.
 
Here are the results of the samples from two identical log-loader machines with Cummins 6C 8.3 TA engines with identical hours. (5000 - 6000 hrs. for these tests) The oil used was Shell Rotella T XLA 15W40, 250 hr. intervals. I have four samples from two machines, but I have posted only the best and the worst. These machines also work in extremely dusty conditions and at high elevations. (5000 ft.)

,soon to be using the #306 in my truck.What I find interesting is the drop in additives in the second analysis,I'm kind of curious what happened, the moly seemed to jump right in there to protect the engine
