Hengst Blue.care

Looks like the one on the right is the charcoal version, hence why it has fewer pleats. I prefer the non-charcoal myself.

Both have charcoal / active carbon, and something else.

Left is Hengst Blue.care, 5 layers:
The first layer comprises an electrostatic pre-filter medium that captures coarse particles. The second filter medium captures more dust; the third, with an active carbon layer, separates vapors, odors, and harmful gases like ozone, nitrogen oxide, and sulfur dioxide. Number four, the Meltblown medium, retains fine dust and microparticles with a diameter of less than 2.5 μm. The fifth bio-functional layer has an anti-microbial effect.

Right Mahle Caremetix, 5 layers:
High-performance particulate filter layer
Molecular layer
Engineered activated carbon layer
Biofunctional layer with activated carbon
Protective layer

Thanks for posting about these blue "biofunctional" filters. Those are the Hengst part numbers ending with "LB." The charcoal ones end with "LC," and the standard ones end with "LI."

I just picked up an "LC" one for wife's Q5 from RockAuto the other day. It was $16 including shipping. Dealer wanted $65 to get it replaced.
