Son-In-Law just squished my Stihl MS 181 chainsaw. He is gonna buy me a replacement. The only problem is they don't make a MS 181 any more. Do you have any opinions you feel worth typing?

Squished it? How? I kinda want to see pics!

I have a really large Husqvarna saw, I would buy husky again without a thought.

As usual, only part of the story gets told. This is a ongoing soap opera.

MS-180 w/ 16' bar ought to be fine...or you could bump it up to a MS-211.....

they do still make the MS-181 but it has that dang quick adjust chain that I don't trust...

A little bit of both. I actually own an MS181, and its a fine saw, though the simplified chain adjuster isnt my favorite (IMO it results in needing a bit MORE adjustment).

I was planning on clearing some trees on a property at one point, and the 261 was what I was planning to buy, so there is some reality to it...

Gotcha. He feels really bad as he pulled a trailer over it. He will pay me what it's worth and I might upgrade. The MS181 did all I needed. I haven't researched enough to know
what in the Stihl line is most compatible.
