I have a 2020 Chevy Trax with the 1.4 turbo engine. The first oil change I went with Red Line 5w30. One reason is the little turbo runs really hot and I need an oil that with stands heat well. I have a Harley Sportster that has a 1250 110 HP hot rod engine that I have been using Red Line in with really good results. So I have been satisfied with the Brand.
What do you think? smile2

Which 5w-30? The one that is not API approved?

Use an approved oil under warranty. JMO

The turbo is liquid cooled. Redline is a fine oil I have used it in some applications .Link to engine description.

I had that 1.4T in my 2011 Chevy Cruze and GM recalibrated the OLM in 2012 onward because it was allowing longer OCI's
than it should have (often 10K miles). Having said that....I remember seeing very good UOA's using regular Mobil 1 5w30 for 7500 miles.
If it were mine I would use a name brand 5w30 synthetic that is D2G2 and don't go over 7500 miles....

I use both oils together. If you push that car, gonna add performance parts and or the weather is gonna stay hot the Redline is hard to beat. If you decided to go to a general synthetic oil I would seek ones that can meet HTO-6 specs. Even the Amsoil SS 5w30,Redline meets the Dexos Spec just doesnt have the label. If your using a true synthetic oil then I am sure you are gonna get a lot of life from that car. Use good transmission fluid and interval changes too .

Red Line makes a Dexos oil for your turbo engine.
Or you can buy Kendall for less money and get the same results.
Member OVERKILL pounded that into my head 2-3 months ago....... twice.

Get the Kendall at petroleumservicecompanydotcom at a good price and save.

All three but that was for 20W50 motorcycle oil and not relevant here.

Yeah, so that's the "good stuff" but it has absolutely zero formal approvals.

Get Castrol Edge 0W40, Mobil1 0W40 FS, Pennzoil Platinum Euro 5W40, etc, etc.
Turbo on small 4cyl engines is nothing new. They were common in Europe in 1980's, let alone now.
Shoot fr an oil that has MB229.5 approval, like all oils above I mentioned and then many more.
Redline is fine oil, but take into consideration that Redline targets Euro owners with that oil and yet oil is not approved by any Euro manufacturer. Redline offers Professional series which is rebadged Kendall, and it is mediocre oil.

Yup, it's not even their money but yet they always gotta add their 2cents of why you shouldn't be using this brand of oil LOL

Kendall oil is far from being a "mediocre oil".

This forum is going so far downhill lately.
