Never had one before. Was kinda small, but up close (within a few feet) of my face, you could easily see it.
It bothered me, as it got larger. Once it got to a certain size, it just stopped growing (thankfully).

I first tried popping it like a small pimple, but when that proved too tedious (considering I wasn't keen on causing permanent damage to the skin) I gave up.
I then tried simply dipping a q tip into rubbing alcohol and dabbing it on the stye.
Sure enough, after 2 or maybe 3 treatments it went away.
I though it would come back, but surprisingly it didn't. There's also no trace of it.

Just thought I'd share my experience.

Do you have a habit of rubbing your eyes ?

I had on a few months ago, they go away within a few days.

Anybody rubbing eyes these days could wind up with bigger problems. I see people everyday touching eyes or mouth ...

Quite the contrary.
I've worn prescription glasses since I was 5 s rubbing my eyes isn't that easy.

Maybe, but rubbing alcohol is probably cleaner and cheaper.

I wonder if it’s caused by an eye lash mite (demodex) that dies in the hair follicle ?

Most common cause of a stye is blocking of an oil gland.

Sometimes a stye will be followed by a chalazion (a cyst in the eyelid), and this will be visible as a swelled up eyelid. I've had it happen a few times. Last time it took 2 months for it to go away. If it doesn't go away on its own, it'll need to be surgically removed.

They are uncomfortable, look strange and as someone noted go away after some time.

Please check with your doctor if you are concerned.

Unfortunately home remedies and medical advice are outside of BITOG purview.
