I had a front wheel off today on my Saab 9-5 and came to find that the cv boot had slipped its clamp. It's on the smaller diameter end of the outer shaft, and very little grease has escaped.

I'm wondering whether I can get a tool and just put a new clamp on it. The boot doesn't appear torn. Any advice?

Of course you can. For the time being if you must drive it, I'd put some nylon wire-ties on to keep in and out, what should be kept in and out.

Wide Harbor Freight zip tie for the win. No pressure or major force to contain here. Nothing to stress over.

+1 on the zip tie, for a more permanent fix..

Personally I prefer Oetiker style clamps but finding the correct size can be a goose chase, these are either 34.5 or 35.5mm and OE it seems is no longer available, the type I linked to works okay.

Thanks for the replies. I'll give a zip tie a go first!

I've used these on a different application, imagine a zip tie but metal and self-locking - it might work:
