My 2006 Toyota Sequoia will turn 250,000 miles in the next few weeks. I always run 10w30. We are going to take it on a long road trip this summer in hot weather. Any advantage to going with 10w40 or 20w50 for just this trip. The SUV has no problems currently.

You could always substitute a quart of 10w30 with 10w40 just to thicken slightly. My GMC truck holds 6 quarts so it got 5qts 5w30 and 1qt 10w40.

Sure, why not?
life's too short to not try new things.

Worse thing that'll happen is you'll consume a little more gas.
