Well, they can't be caught not offering a product that their competitor offers (even if the more saavy customer knows it's nothing more than a 0W-20)! Once Pennzoil did it, it was only a matter of time before the others started to follow suit. assimilate

How did we ever survive with the only choices being conventional and synthetic?

Marketing. Probably same oil (virtually) just in a different bottle.

Tell me, what does a hybrid engine require that regular, API SN+ Valvoline Advanced 0W-20 doesn't provide?

Are you saying that this 0W-20 is better for a hybrid engine than another, equally certified 0W-20? Are all the hybrid engines running on non-hybrid labeled 0W-20s in danger of lubrication failure?

Give me a break.

All about grabbing shelf space. Get it cheap when it's phased out.

[email protected] on the thick side.
Sits right inside 5w20 range and better cold starting properties.

I'd like to see an additive chart that differentiates Valvoline regular Syn 0w20 - this hybrid 0w20 and Wemay's Valvoline [Euro] XL-IV C5 0W-20.

The comparisons would be interesting to read.

20' Kia Soul X-Line 2.0 MPI -- Kia Total Quartz Syn-Blend 5w20 - OEM Filter ...(Next Up) Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 5w30

Yeah, it is like Valvoline saying that their Advanced 0W-20 wouldn't work well in hybrids engines, they had to come out with a specific oil for hybrids.

Contrast Valvoline approach to introduce a new hybrid oil to that of Mobil. Mobil says they test Mobil 1 in hybrid engines and it does well.
