According to the latest EPA report (EPA-420-R-20-006) automotive tribologists' have contributed to significant and improved mileage gains. .

Even as engine horsepower verses displacement have increased, fuel consumption has decreased.

Another driveline component that has contributed to increased efficiency is due to the increased number of forward - - - - -.

Please fill in the blanks AND tell us which driveline component is being discussed.

Speeds in the transmission.

There have been other transmission improvements such as improved torque converter lockup, dual clutch, more rolling element bearings, and smaller more efficient hydraulics.

Many cars and trucks have 7, 8, and 10 speed automatic transmissions which allow the engine to operate in a more efficient RPM range than the old 3 and 4 speed automatics.
