It has came to my attention that there are 2 different bottles of rear diff fluid with the same part number 10-4034. One of the bottles has GL5 on it and the other one doesn't. Does anyone know if it is the same fluid and different bottles. i have searched here and the corvette forums but no definitive answer was given other that GL5 is a pressure rating.

OEM part number is= 88862624.

There's a similar part number= 1#88862624.

Bottles looks almost the same except the 1# part number bottle doesn't say GL5 on it.

Both carry the same ACDELCO number 10-4034. I wonder if there's a difference?

GL5 = a "pressure rating"?
I "always thought" gear oils had GL-4 or GL-5 ratings depending on whether the product had sulphur compounds in it (GL-4) or not (GL-5).
The synchros in manual transmissions are bronze and are eroded by the sulphur in GL-4 lubes.

I trust I'm correct here.
