I picked up a case of Castrol 20w-50 motorcycle oil at a yard sale a few weeks ago. Sae rated SG.
Since the bottom end of my tractor is worn and I am too lazy to fix it What is better than a thick oil?

Sae30 does well in it so I am going with 20w-50 this time.

Used the tractor around the yard this morning to get it warmed up.

That will do the job nicely in the Hoyt Clagwell tractor.

I would use it in that application without hesitation. My father owned an early 1950s Farmall Super A up until the early 1980's that had never had an engine rebuild and we used either 30 or 40 wt. (no particular brand, whatever was available) in it

It did not like 15w40. Sae30 was good. I paid $9 for the Case of 12 qts

Curious - how did it "not like 15W-40"? Pump oil @ lower temps?

Probably as I found out, just a little lower oil pressure (about 5-10 psi pressure on a warm engine) than the 20w-50 in a worn out tractor engine.
