This is a fresh rebuild LY6 6.0 clevite main and king rod bearings. I am using 10-40 conventional oil. 1st change was at 100 miles. Had a bit of the same flecks in the filter. This oil has 800 miles on it.

What do y'all think. I was surprised to see flecks.

I will put 1500 miles on this fresh oil then switch to synthetic.

The rest of the filter pics. Same filter just no flash and flash.

Keep doing what you're doing. I've scrubbed many blocks down by hand, oil galleys, lifter galleys etc after they were hot tanked. Still got some stuff in the filter. I always changed oil/filter right after initial cam break-in and then 500,1000, 2000 miles, but these were all flat tappet cams.
I think you're doing it right the way you're going.
Good Luck!!!

I get butterflies every time I open a can.
I spent weeks over thinking bearing clearances.
Thank you for the reassurance.
1st tow trip is this week. Wish me luck

Looks like the filter is doing it's job.
These engines don't need anything special. GM doesn't spec a 40wt, however.

With 900 miles, I would run the oil to OLM and drive on. The filter will have less particles over time.

Did you rebuild this yourself? The clearances on this engine are pretty typical.

This engine is GM's workhorse. It's relatively low output vs displacement. I don't think you have anything to worry about.

Yep, the LSA supercharger was hard on the 5.3 rings so I got a LY6 and built it myself.
.020 over
Forged pistons and rods.
Ls9 cam
9.2 compression
Long tube headers 3.5 inch exhaust
LSA blower at 12 psi.
6L80e
32 inch tires 4x4
Methenol injection

472tq @3200
473hp @ 6000
Conservative tune for towing in the heat.

4.56 gears are next

My clearances are .0026 0029
Melling high flow high psi pump with 40 weight it idles at 35 -38 psi hot.

Still working on the tune to make it shift smoother.

The clearances for your application seem fine. What did you use for mains? GM coated Gen V LT1's seem to be in with forced induction.

Clevite mains
King rods
The boost is why I opted for larger clearances
I also need a big engine oil cooler.

I don't see anything alarming for a new build. You will definitely need an oil cooler towing under boost!!! 12 psi is a little much without piston piston cooling nozzles.
I was a Magnuson dealer/installer for several years & 6-8 psi was all a LQ4 would take without piston crown overheating issues while towing.

What are you towing? Do you run premium fuel?

Towing with a supercharged gasoline engine in Arizona heat is about the last thing I would attempt.
How large is the intercooler radiator? It better be about as big as the main engine radiator, perhaps bigger.

I haul a 1000lb side by side in the bed
And tow a 7700lb travel trailer.
I tow up the mountain on e55 and 91 back down.
Methenol injection cools IAT and adds octane to stop detention.

I will run synthetic after this 1500 mile oil change
15w50 is too thick. I have good pressure with 10w40
I have an Afco liquid to air intercooler

These questions remain to be answered.
This was to be my 1st trip but work has me on OT

Before the 5.3 began guzzling oil all was fine. I don't recall the numbers but the tunner really like the meth.

What is too hot for oil?
The tranny got up to 219.
