Saw this today and thought it was really cool to see an engine this old crank up and run.

Enjoy!

6000 pounds, 30 HP (if lucky), requires constant attention & lubrication to run, diesels have come a long way in 111 years!

I'd love to participate in starting that bad boy up. Just the fumes would be motorhead heaven.

Thanks for sharing!

Very cool. From an era when you didn't have to worry about exhaust, or even oil drips for that matter.

Would be a great way to use up your (well filtered) used oil - as long as you needed a low horsepower engine that required constant attention.

Very interesting. I wonder if it is a hit and miss engine? How does it control RPMs?

This is the sort of line belt system an engine like this could have provided power for, though a factory that large most likely used a steam engine.

Wonder how many millions of revolutions it's made? It could use some bushing work in the pivots, quite visible play.
