Started researching free VPN's . Most I ran across were only free for a trial period .

Decided to experiment with Opera browser , which claims to come with a free VPN .

Advice ? Comment ?

I knew Opera was a Euro search engine, but did not that it was owned by China, that's enough of a turn off for me.

Incorrect. Norwegian company - bound by Norwegian privacy laws (which are among the strictest in the world) - owned by Chinese conglomerate.

You're spreading FUD.

Still incorrect. A Norwegian company. Neither China nor the NSA can compel Opera to do anything afoul of Norwegian privacy law; so the whole "I don't trust the Chinese or the Americans" angle is incorrect.

Potato.

"Norwegian Law," "Compel" Laugh Laugh. The Chinese have "Ring Zero" on THEIR servers. And as soon as it is cleared off, IF ever, they will be right back on Ring Zero. This includes the NSA. They don't ask, they just DO!!

I wonder if anyone told the chinese that they have to abide by norwegian law!
We know well how obliging the Chinese Communist Party is.
