According to MSTUEBER in the referenced thread, Warren Distribution supplied the PDS through AZone. I purchased it as an oil change special (with a Mobil1 filter) for $24.99. The price at the rack said $21.99 for only the jug.

You got it Adam. Any time.

Funny aside...

I called MAG1 just to see if they would tell me that this STP and Mag1 were made by Warren Distribution. He could not comment on STP but said yes, Mag1 is WD. So i asked him what they would recommend for my Passat 2.0T (VW requires 0W-20 / VW508.00). He said "officially" nothing they have meets recommendation BUT, previous year 2.0T and 1.8T recommended 5W40...."do you understand what i'm telling you" he said with an over the phone wink wink. Lol.

On their lube advisor the euro version of the 2.0T (162kw engine) recommends 5w30 c3, 0w40 and 5w40 A3/B4 meeting VW505.00.

That is inappropriate advice for a vehicle that has a VW approval requirement.

That's the thing, he didn't give me advise...officially. He advised that they do not have the required oil. That was the official stance. The rest was between the lines.

But you called the company's tech line, correct?

Correct, and he advised they don't have the correct oil for my application.

Interesting as well … the 5w20 STP synthetic (Dexos) I bought a year ago was made by Amalie …

That's who I thought blended it too.

Tha MAG1 PDS has Calcium, wt % .26. PQIA states their results in (ppm). So how do I convert that % to ppm?

Thanks.
So you just multiply the % results by 10,000 and get actual ppm.

Wish they show other Detergent Aditives like magnesium and other Antiware Additives to get the whole picture.

Yeah it's strange because other Warren Distribution oil sheets give you molybdenum, magnesium, calcium and boron levels... This one is definitely not giving all that same information.

Thanks for the info Captain. Glad you're here. Have a great weekend.

Not saying it isn't, but Amalie branded 5w40 is rated Dexos 2; this isn't.
