Thanks, but you can find 25% off for Advance more than half the year (at least) if you use Google search. I know the past 5-6 times I've ordered from Advance I've found 25% every time... at least this time I don't need to search! I saved $50 twice in the past month using these buying 2 AGMs...

If I look at something on their website, I get 20-25% coupon in an email a few minutes later with a "We ser you've been looking at _________." message. Still not a bad deal. Thanks wgtoys.

Not in my experience. The coupons are well worth the price comparison

Need to change the ATF in my T4R. Need 3 x 1 gallon jugs of Valvoline Maxlife SYN ATF.

Amazon = $72 + tax, Pep Boys = $71 + tax (surprised to see they were Amazon competitive), AAP = $91 + Tax, Walmart $54 + tax.

ATF was excluded from the 25% off AAP coupon. I went with Walmart.

I know this is one data point, but it's not my only experience like this.

How does AAP stay in business?

Eddie

AAP stays in business like most other parts houses, they thrive off people who didn't plan for a repair and now they need one so they HAVE to pay the high prices to get the car back on the road. Also, most of them do have a pretty dominant 'commercial department' where they sell all the economy line stuff to local shops. Source: I was a previous AAP "parts-professional".

Exactly. 25% off puts them in walmart range. And then it becomes more convenient for me because AAP is at least 3x closer to me than WM

They stay in business because Walmart doesn't sell things like actual auto parts or specialized tools. Then, when you go in to get those things, you grab car wash soap, a quart of top-off oil, or a couple other items while you are in there, to save yourself a trip to Walmart. Yes, Walmart has much better prices. But I can't get out of there so easily when I go in. I wind up going in intending to spend 50 bucks and come out spending 100 or 150. I can go into AA and come out with the 1 jug of 50/50 Zerex G-05 and maybe one other item, and I'm in and out MUCH more quickly than Walmart. I can also borrow a tool there. Try that at Walmart and you get busted for shoplifting. Lol.

That's what Walmart banks on us to do lol. Same as people shop at gas station for convenience and pay 25-50% extra VS Walmart prices
