Anybody know who makes Deere's hydrostat oil these days? Way back when, Mobil used to have the contract. They still advertise Mobilfluid meeting Deere's spec J20D, but Deere does not publish a list of approved suppliers.

Northland Oil makes the John Deere oil as far as I know. Somehow I figured that out when I worked in a John Deere factory but don't remember how. I think Northland might be puppet of Deere.

J20d is an old obsolete spec.

Wow is that odd. I figure'd Deere would only contract to a major.

I see they did release a new spec, but also refer to the old spec...

Specification

J20C

RES10060

API GL-4

J20D is low viscosity Hy-Gard.
J20C is regular Hy-Gard.

Both are still in use and readily available from JD dealerships. I have no idea who makes it, I'd guess/assume that it varies regionally.

A good way to tell who makes the fluid is to find an up to date SDS.

Yes, but I'll have the manufacturers name and info too.

I will have to look - I recall MSDS's only had the manufacturer name of the hazardous components, not the blender.

Go http://www.jdmsds.com/ and search "hy-gard" you'll get 25 results and it tells the manufacturer out to the right side.
