Picked up a new 2020 Camry

Excellent negotiating, over 20% off is great. No way my dealer would sell an SE for that. I think the dealer provides some free oil changes and will do them whenever you decide?

I much prefer Toyota's approach of using a normal sized, finely tuned engine over Honda's use of
a 1.5T as their base engine in the Accord....and I doubt the MPG difference will be very much.
If I were in the market for another car...that Camry would be very high on my list. Good Luck
with it. The only thing I don't like about the Camry is those silly black things on the rear bumpers...
Toyota should lose those, IMO...

Thanks! The black accent on the rear bumper really stands out on the white, not so much on the other colors. At first it was a distraction now its not. The 2.5 ltr just seems like the perfect size motor for the car.

Its a 8 speed electronic transmission. It drives real smooth.

Kira, yes it is an Aisin 8 speed/torque converted shiftable tranny.

Oops sorry, I didn't let the OP answer.

It has the birch and black interior. I was set on black but then when I got in the birch it was nice. Birch is like a light grey.

Sales-dude pulled it up on his computer screen then quickly whipped the scroll wheel on the mouse then wanted me to electronically sign on this little point-of-sale gizmo like they have at Dollar Tree.

You are correct in that it's an interesting mix of black, red, and chrome. Perhaps the window accents are an attempted return to the 80s when the Japanese were really hitting it big. (Like this Cressida). Happy motoring!

Malwart has 0w16 in ST and M1 flavors. Your owners manual should allow 0w20 if you "can't find" the thin stuff.

The closing agent presented the add-ons but quickly moved those to the side. I think he was told before we got into the room not to push those.

I will see what the chrome looks like on the vehicle after the tint is done. Its the same on the 2014 Camry.

I think I am going to lean towards the 0/20 Mobil 1, not sure though.

No. Being an 8 speed there is many shift points so people may not be used to the newer generation transmissions. It does use the transmission to slow the vehicle down if you are on cruise control and you go down a hill. If I travel 45 MPH and go down a hill and it starts to go to 46-47 it will downshift and tach will rise to 3000.

Really nice looking ride. My last vehicle purchase I made the mistake of taking wife and daughter with me to the dealership. Big mistake.

I tried getting more than that off and probably could have but the wife was killing me. The problem was this one was in the showroom and if we didn't buy it it would have been gone within a day. I would have not heard the end of it. I went to the other dealer a day before and tried negotiating on two different Camry's without the wife, no go. I walked out. They didn't counter. This dealer is one I have been buying from for 35 years. I started to walk out on this deal and they saw that I was and changed the subject real quick.

Amkeer:

I too found that negotiating with the Wife is a plus. They KNOW you are ready to buy.

23K is about right for a optioned up 4 cylinder FWD commodity car out the door..

That 30K "sticker must of had some heavy ADMU?

Looks like Camry is becoming the right choice again in Sedans when everyone is buying SUV's and Trucks.

Me, I need another car in the Fall as my VW lease is up. I'm either going Classic 60's ( which will retain its value)
Or something "Sporty" in RWD.

Good luck and have fun with the new car. I say 0W20 in that. Maybe with a 1/2 qt amendment of 0W40 M1 FS

Thanks. The 3 weeks negotiating cut the fluff out of the price. The problem is the vehicles move so fast out the door they will let you walk. If you negotiate on a "vanilla" unit you will get a slightly better deal. The wife didn't want the basic look.

Toyota is really hitting it with the Camry and the Avalon. The newer generation is also attracting the younger crowd.

It has a chain. I think the 6 cylinder has a belt but could be wrong. I don't like belts.

Ya, they typically won't do it. I had to sell them on selling me the car on that price point. Two of three said no way take a hike. The third dealer is the one that I have been buying from I had to leverage my position.

Thanks! Its always nerve racking buying a newer generation vehicle, although this is in its 3rd year. We keep them a long time so we will see.

Yes, my blood pressure was steadily rising. I had a well crafted plan and had to throw that out the window. All in all it worked out.

I just saw that it was an SE. that's a really good deal for an SE with Sunroof!

I see on autotrader toyota makes a AWD Camry now and Hybrid.
