I was in my local Walmart today and I was checking out the clearance section because it's become my favorite part of the store and they had Valvoline MST 5w40 reduced to $5/qt. I bought up their last three, and I can't seem to find it on their website. It is just showing the regular Synpower 5w40 for $6.97/qt. So just wat to give a heads up to those who may want to go out and check for it.

Clearance? At $5/qt. that comes to $25 for a 5 qt. jug. What is M1 0W-40 going for at WM now before rebate?

Maybe he or anyone else finding this attractive are Valvoline users and Mobil1 being cheaper doesn't factor into the equation. Just a suggestion.

Point taken, we're both offering some perspective.

Maybe they haven't updated tags, or the store price might be higher, but for a few weeks now 5qt jugs of plain jane Mobil1 have been $22.88 and EP has been $24.97 online.

Yes, clearance. That's what the label stated on the bottle because it looked like my local Walmart was clearing inventory on the Valvoline since I couldn't go back and find this one on the shelf. Online the Valvoline 5w40 is selling at $6.xx per quart. So it's a discount from the regular price that's for sure, and yes NAPA has it on sell but it was still like .40 cents cheaper and saved me another trip.

The Valvoline 5W40 at NAPA appears to be for European gasoline engines and the Walmart clearance looks to be for diesel motors hence the dexos2 approval, not that there's anything wrong with that. I know some folks run this in their gassers.

Bon appetit!

I was planning on running it in a gasoline car. I was unaware that it is diesel oil. Should I be okay to run it?
