Ford vehicles themselves are forward compatible to any other make. Why strap yourself down with junk? crzy

Is there a proper flushing procedure?

Ford Gold, Ford Orange, Ford Yellow. I am about to join the orator above in positing that Ford vehicles are forward compatible with nearly anything out there.

Gold and yellow are supposedly not compatible. I just wish they had chosen another color dye for the new stuff.

As for a proper flushing procedure, in another bulletin they said no flush was necessary. That being said I would use either the VC-1 or citric acid thing before changing over, but that is just me.

Being that Ford Orange is just Dex-cool I see no reason to switch unless you are in need of a flush in the first place. My cooling system at 115k miles appears very clean in the puke tank. It was flushed once at 80k and I do rad drain and fills every 2 years (was using the Ford orange but guess I'll be going with a valvoline dexcool).

I would suspect that the new yellow is Prestone with Cor-Guard due to the fact that it's a safe replacement for the old orange and Ford had a TSB about flushing the heater core in a Transit and refilling with Prestone instead of Motorcraft orange.

Just a theory at this point but maybe we will see something to back that up moving forward.

The Prestone with Cor-Guard uses phosphates (a good thing, IMO) and 2-EHA (not a good thing in some minds).
I wonder if PEAK's new 10X lifetime coolant uses phosphates?....I believe it does not use 2-EHA.

I wonder if Ford is moving away from 'Orange' (Dexcool) for a reason...or just to simplify things?
I replaced the 'Orange' in my 14' Focus with PGL....I'll probably do the same when my 2016 Escape is due.

Specialty Orange has a lot in common with Dexcool-it seems to eat & plug up everything it touches! The ‘18 Transit 250 3.7 in my sig has had a host of small coolant leaks, stealer could only fix the easy ones, didn’t want to tackle the heater core. If Bar’s Leak ginger root stop leak can keep it under control for a year, it’ll be someone else’s problem (lease is up June 2021)! Of course, I’ll have another one then, but at least it’ll have the new coolant in it.

Why do they keep changing it? It's like they can't make up their mind.

I wouldn't say that Dexcool "seems to eat & plug up everything it touches"...….many cars run long, uneventful lives on Dexcool….often with no or infrequent
coolant changes. Dexcool does seem to cause problems in some vehicles but I would guess it's certain materials used in the particular vehicle (usually plastics)
rather than the Dexcool. Having said that....I would choose a non-2EHA coolant if given the choice....and I did just that by using Peak Global Lifetime when
it was time to change.....

Have a question. Does anyone know if Ford changed their orange coolant formula? I work for a fleet, we run about 4 different coolants. When I spec'd them, 2-eha always appeared in the MSDS sheets. When I looked and the Ford yellow sheet, it wasn't listed. So, I looked at the orange, and there was no listing there either. I know it used to be on the older orange MSDS.

To be honest, I have no idea. All I know is we can't get the orange anymore. When I try to order it to get some legacy stock for people who don't accept that things change, we get the new yellow coolant.

There is a problem with the coolant and block heaters ? Ford put out an OASIS about a year ago.
