After some idiot stole the nice Sun I had(along with a bunch of other tools) I've wanted to replace it.

What do you all prefer? I see lots of options on Ebay from no-names to Snap-on in the $50-100 range, which seems about the range for them.

And yes, I do specifically want an analogue one. I have a digital one, but find there are situations where the analog is a lot easier to use.

A digital tach (or anything) is just tumbling numbers, too hard to follow. A tach with a needle will be good for setting your SU's - lift the piston and see the slight rise in rpm, then die.

I have one just like this:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Cl...244-21033-Sears-Penske-NICE/283446222036

A very popular unit, more useful than Snap on.

Mine is mint in the original box, all inner packing, original manual (48 pages) and accessories. Used probably 4 times.

Pics and details if interested. $65 + shipping from 92020.

The large 7" meter (IIRC made by Simpson) is nice. When Sears made good stuff in the USA 1970's.

And an Actron L-204 inductive timing light, mint like this:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/actron-l-204-timing-light/352837388589?

$20, can combine with analyzer. Made in USA - real chrome metal, not plastic.

That's exactly why I'm looking for another analogue. I've found it basically impossible to see the ~50rpm rise+fall from a piston lift when things are "right" on a digital, while it's super easy to see an analogue "flip" and then settle back where it was. At least the cheap digitals often don't even read fast enough to record this.

Thanks-sent you a PM.

I'm happy to report that I've acquired a beautiful, working, and basically unused Penske/Sears "Automotive Analyzer" from user52165. The thing truly is an item of beauty, and I can't wait to actually use it.
