Hi guys,

I currently have Kendall SHP NLGI-2 on a 2 axle utility trailer.

Grease specs: https://kendallmotoroil.com/product/shp-grease/

I cant find this locally. The thickener is calcium sulfonate.

Any other brands compatible with this grease?

Am i right to make sure that the substitute grease thickener is calcium sulfonate?

Im trying to avoid purchasing the kendall grease online because of cost, shipping etc.

Thank you in advance.

If you are repacking the bearings it won't matter. Just clean everything with solvent and repack with your favorite wheel bearing approved grease.

If you are just adding grease via a zerk, a Calcium Sulfonate grease would be preferred, but a lithium complex grease should work as well (it is listed as compatible with calcium sulfonate).

Thanks Spasm, Robroy. It didn't occur to me to search for a grease comparability chart.

Not repacking , just adding a couple of squirts for maintenance.

Thanks for the info, I really appreciate it!

Agree this is likely the easiest to find and one I used on trailer bearings in the past …

WD-40 Specialist True Multi-Purpose Grease also is a OBCS grease. It was available at Home Depot. It was chosen according to WD-40 to insure compatibility with Li-complex greases.

LubriMatic Marine Bearing Grease is a basic calcium sulfonate based grease that's cheap and available at many hardware stores.
