Need to get the seat out to paint it's frame on this Escort. Passenger side was easy. Now the driver seat left front bolt is stuck. I can loosen it maybe 30 degrees but no more. Been working it back and forth with no change. Haven't tried an impact as I don't want to snap the head off. And heat may weaken it too. Still too tight to spray anything on the threads. It does not go through the floor. Any ideas? Might just try the impact if nothing else works.

Penetrant spray will find its way down in a completely tightened screw, you just need to give it a good spray and have a towel around the area to soak up excess. Spray it, wait a few seconds, then work it back and forth those 30 degrees you've got.

I wouldn't worry too much about heat weakening it if it comes to that, though heat might melt the carpet or seat.

If it snaps in two or you have to grind it off, it'll be easier to extract the rest once the seat is out, then can use a larger fastener if extraction damages what's there.

[censored]. I'm sorry to hear that. Let us know how it turns out and PLEASE post some pics of the paint job, before and after.

I just removed the driver's seat in our '14 FXT and was lucky that the four bolts came loose and threaded easily. It was last off a few years ago during an accident, so that probably helped.

When I installed heated seats in my MGM one or two bolts broke. The local Ford place had them right in stock. He didn't even look anything up .
They are in contact with the elements thru the floor on the panthers.

Drilled some more. Enlarged the hole some more until up to the threads. Punched out the remains with a air hammer. Cleaned up the threads with a tap. Can't see much, which is the idea, When they were rusty they stood out like a sore thumb.
