I wonder if it's a dab of grease to keep the filter media from getting too dry sitting on the shelf for a long period.


Probably some kind of marking so the machine that cuts the media has something to trigger off of.

I think that is one of the nicer econo filters I have seen lately. Pleat spacing looks good, and I like the switch to metal end caps.
Over all a well made filter at a bargain price.

The 9688 is the only one off hand I know of, but I think I have seen one other.

I have one of these that is going on my sister's '10 Santa Fe in a few weeks.
Will be a ~7500 mile/10 month interval.

Will probably use one on my mom's Kia Soul since she is getting 6 month changes for warranty, but <2,000 miles.

Not bad for the price, certainly fine for shorter OCI's and lawn mowers and such. BTW I think we will all need haircuts soon after this pandemic thing winds down haha.
