they are not picky on oil.

I would buy toyota filters from amazon or ebay in a 5 or 10 pack for ~$5 - $6 each. make sure you buy from a car dealership with a store front on those pages and not individuals as there are counterfeiters out there.

may will offer a low per filter price but the shipping will bring it up. that is why larger orderes help spread that cost.

the engine will also be fine with a Fram or supertech alternate if you need one local, doesnt reslly matter with this engine.

oil is the same way. plenty of good deals out there. supertech 12 qt box (synthetic). Havoline, Pennziol has $10/jug rebates going on now, M1 may also have them.

On our 1st gen 2001 Tundra, I use the larger filter and any 5w30 synthetic.
Currently Valvoline High Mileage.

I think the larger filters are PH8a, M1 301, etc.
Perhaps your Tundra uses the cartridge filters?

Good luck.

Great choice.

Cartridge filter on this engine.

Toyota cartridge filter is $5-6 at my dealer and they always throw in a new drain plug gasket, gratis. That's the best bet. Low price, good quality.

The engine isn't picky on oil. Use whatever synthetic you like. Toyota's own works well. I've had great UOA with the Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 5W30 (I know, not the recommended viscosity, unless it sees severe use - which it doesn't, really).

Depending on what year you get, you may have the composite/plastic filter housing. You can change that out for the aluminum housing on other engines. You want the Genuine Toyota 15620-31060 Oil Filter Cap Assembly. It's about $22. You'll have to change the center barrel in that part to the longer one from your composite housing, but that's easily done. I just felt better about the aluminum housing.

You'll also want to get a Toyota filter housing wrench. I got the MotivX one, it's about $25 and fits the cartridge housing tightly, so there's no chance of slipping or damage to the housing.

Congrats on a nice reliable truck. I think the K&N synthetic filters from Walmart are a great deal. I order my drain plug crush washers in bulk from amazon” toyota genuine”.
As for oil any ILSAC synthetic brand will work fine, I would just uses, deals, packaging convenience and availability guide you, I like a Havoline6 quart boxes, I also liked the rotella gas truck they paid me to take. Wouldn’t have any problem running super tech/Kirkland/Amazon Basics either,

If I am not mistaken, the newer Tundra uses the longer cartridge filter.
There is not much choices on the cartridge filter.
The aftermarket is actually more expensive than the OEM.

What you may want to do is to check if the oil filter canister attach to the truck is the plastic or metal.
If it is plastic, you may want to buy the metal version and replace it the next time you change the oil.
The metal is much better and easier to install for some reason based on my experience.

My son did some research, ended up targeting a 2013 Tundra. We found one decent shape 79k miles. The frame was very good for the Midwest(thanks previous owner).

Took the bed off the other day, frame & box rust touch up & then undercoat.

2011 CrewMax 5.7 LTD here.
OEM cartridge.
Mine seems to prefer the Castrol 0w20.
The 4x4 has 5 grease fitting in the driveline.

If you have a dealer close by, check to see if they have an online ordering option to get an internet discount. Filters are $4 + tax when I do it.

I use M1 0w40 FS in my 4.7. I use the Mobil discounts, get two jugs basically for the price of one, change my own oil for around $18-19. I did a UOA after 18 months/5k miles and had a spectacular report.
