Good Evening BITOGERS. This is off Colton, my farmer friends 2019 Ram 2500 6.7 Cummins powered pickup. Truck was at dealer while back as he lost I believe 3rd gear in it. Under warranty, so they did oil change on it also. This filter and whatever 10w30 HDEO Ram dealer uses. Had 7,000 miles on filter and oil. Truck has just at 21k on it. He hauls horses to shows as he barrel races and shows horses. We put in Harvest King 10w30 HDEO CK4 and a Baldwin filter. Forgot that #

Enjoy the pictures.

Nice pics. Thanks.
Now I know that you have cut open about every brand on this side of the ocean. What would you say are the two or three best filter brands.

Thank you. I have been using the Fram Ultras the past few years.
And Wix on Diesel.

Pops, or my real dad runs Baldwin on his R model Mack day cab 1984 era rig and on his 89' Cummins ram pickup.

Wix or NAPA GOLD for diesel stuff I would use without hesitation or worry

Mopar MO-285 = rebadged Fleetguard LF3972 still a decent filter but there are higher efficiency options for about the same cost or just a little more.

It is caused by the black smoke that you see or used to see from the exhaust. Some of it gets past the rings where it stains the oil.

Yup, soot from diesel combustion cycle actually makes the oil pitch black. Stains anything it touches too. The filter element burned right up in bout 15 minutes

Better explanation I should say, and not from smoke at all.

There's also soot in diesel smoke coming out the tailpipe when heavily "rolling coal". The "smoke' that gets past the rings (due to ring blow-by) is the same smoke that goes out the tailpipe.
