I apologize to the member that wanted a FRAM XG 3600 cut open. Good ole' Wal Mart outsourcing vendors screwed me royally. Sent me this instead. Highly irritated and no receipt or paperwork in box

When the "health situation" is over I'll go to Rural King and get a XG 3600. Way to go Wal Mart

Anyways, enjoy the photos

Doesn't look that impressive. Thin media, some wide pleat spacing, for a couple dollars more get the XG instead.

Not impressed in the least! That medium looks seriously lacking in filtering ability as it is short having very few pleats compared to other premium btands

This filter is acceptable for a 5000 mile run and get it off.

Actually looks like an Orange can Fram to me on the inside. Disappointing!

yo Adam, I thought you said you were leaving?

Don't get me wrong, it's always great to hear from you and see your autopsies.

So when you do go, where are you going where they don't have oil filters or internet? (generally speaking, no personal info needed)

Thanks for the cut-and-post, brother! We'll miss 'em while you're gone.

Agreed!

You also forgot to mention that you can get TWO or THREE OFI's out of an XG

Other than the inconsistent pleat spacing - Looks fine.

Though I prefer short and fat rather than tall and long - at least in filters if given that option.

These are painted blue and sold as OE service replacement by Subaru and Honda dealers .

Media spec my differ, and Subaru uses a nitrile ADBV.

Chris: you are very welcome. I use tough guard filters, never a issue

Yeah, I've had luck with tough guards. Soon I'll spin on a xg 3614

Thank you for post !
The pics confirm why I'm willing to spend A few more bucks for a better filter.

My wal Mart receipt shows pic of a XG-3600 but they shafted me sending me the tough guard. I'm done with Wal Mart

I'm not going to buy a XG until the current situation is over

Specs over-ride "looks". 99% @ 20u and rated for 15K miles.

I am not convinced that the Subaru OEM oil filter is anything other than the cheapest jobber filter that Subaru could have had made that complies with their oil pump specs from 2009. I had a recent conversation with Fram that lead me to believe that the media on their current Extra Guard filters far exceeds the flow and capture capacity of the Subaru OEM oil filter, not to mention the enhanced media of their Tough Guard and Ultra offerings.
