2016 Ford Escape 2.0 EcoBoost FWD 56000 miles My son purchased it used with 35000 miles as a Ford CPO with the included extended powertrain warranty good until 100000 miles or 11/18/25

Been using Castrol Magnatec 5W30 for the last 3 oil changes (every 5000 miles) along with Motorcraft FL-910s filter. Takes 6 quarts per change

Pennzoil Extended Care 6 quart case is $39.99 MINUS a $25.00 rebate for final price of $15.00 or so with tax added.

Not much information on the oil other than it does not have Dexos 1 Gen 2 license approval on the bottle. It does meet Ford WSS-M2C946-A, M2C946-B1. His owner's manual calls for 5W30 meeting just the M2C946-A.

For 6 quarts and a cost of $15.00 should I run one OC of 5000 miles using this oil????

That Ford -B1 spec includes an LSPI test that was developed well after the 2016 model year, I am guessing that generation of Ford specs was released around 2018.
I really don't know anything about Pennzoil Extended Care, but the fact that it has that -B1 spec is a good thing for an EcoBoost engine, IMHO.

I don't see why not, it meets the required spec for the car, and it's a Pennzoil Full Syn oil, there's only one way to find out how well it works .

My thoughts also that it meets the newest Ford spec and is providing LSPI protection. Just finished ordering it and submitted the rebate form on line.

Purchased from Amazon.com since Wal-Mart.com was out of the product at this time. Both are listed as being participating dealers for this rebate along with the only other participant Advanceautoparts.com

Thanks!!!

Just took a peek at SOPUS' information sheet for this oil, it is a little thicker than PP 5W30 at 100C at 10.1cSt compared to 9.8.
Shannow once made a comment here that the closer an oil's ratio of MRV to CCS is to 2:1, the less VI improvers and pour point depressants it has (IIRC).
The Extended Care 5W30 is 9900/4100=2.41, which is a pretty low ratio comparing to other 5W30s I have seen that actually stated CCS and MRV in their info sheets. Guess that could be a hint that the oil contains good base stocks?
