Motorcycles. My wife and I rode to the Richard Petty Museum today, about 20 miles from our home. Museum was closed but they are open Monday thru Saturday with shortened hours, 10 until 2 as of late. Not another soul on the property so we sat in the rocking chairs out front and enjoyed the quiet while contemplating the noise potential just inside the locked doors. 83 degrees but with strong winds. We took the long way home enjoying the extremely light traffic. Social distancing at it's best.

The wife and I have been riding the dunes every day this week. Most days we've had it all to ourselves.

I took my bike out a couple times when the weather was decent. Plan on riding as much as possible just to get out and about. I don't need to stop anywhere except for some gas and pit stop.

rode yesterday, finally hit high 60's or low 70's. Car traffic was few and far between..it was awesome. I'll be riding a lot more as soon as weather warms up...it's been a cold, gray, windy and rainy spring around here. Riding is one sure way to lift the spirits.

I've been out a couple of times, about 25 miles each time. Weather is still pretty cool here in The Great Lakes.

Yes, the best Rx in these rimes of social distancing is riding:

"• Avoid crowded spaces: Ride motorcycles.

• Do not use public transportation: Ride motorcycles.

• Well-ventilated spaces are virus free: Ride motorcycles.

• Wear gloves: Ride motorcycles.

• Keep at least six feet from other people: Ride motorcycles.

• Keep a positive attitude: Ride motorcycles!
"

But be sure to wear protection -

Strap a loaf of bread and a can of Spam to the bike. Eating is essential!

There's no limit to the time or number of exercise events you can legally carry out - although the socially-responsible (and Government advised) approach is to be sparing with your time outside.

I am getting out on my Cube or Felt for an hour-ish most days now. The KTM is hooked up to a trickle-charger, waiting....

I get it... lots of comments I've seen involve riding for mental health - recreation. No arguments there.

I'm not anti-Police in any way however;
What's the thinking of limiting traffic or a demand that travel by car or ? be "essential" ? Just to try enforcing STAY AT HOME ? I ask because the roads seem clear and very safe, nobody in a hurry and what a nice time to clear one's head or get out in a way that permits the best case of social distancing, even stopping to fill up the car / bike, nab a few groceries or snacks .... Police are now tasked with following, tracking or investigating such things ?

I've seen plenty of notations now that even Police space and contact is very controlled / limited. Seems silly or at very least, a bad example set when coming up with an excuse to invalidate a true safety issue for ALL or waive mitigating tactics with invented social interaction situations.

I'm one of the lucky one's- The date code on my CB750 tires are getting long so it's pretty much essential for safety concerns that I wear them out soon. I'll admit I'm a shorter season ride these days though and don't do the year 'round thing lately. 25 to 30 degrees didn't used to feel so cold a few years ago.

* Enjoy and be safe

We are supposed to stay local in our lockdown, not moving into other areas. If I hit the backroads I can still stay local because it's still our district and there are no towns. The other way I hit towns and change districts. I'm staying local for now, if and when I go for a ride it's be on little used (gravel) roads and law enforcement non existent....maybe.

Where you misbehaving or did your friends decide to stop and visit you?

Yeah, out on the open road by yourself in the open air with bright sunshine, the chances of you catching COVID or transmitting it to others is zero.

Not much traffic out, so should theoretically be safer, but don't relax too much. Not that anybody goes out for a ride intending to crash, but now's probably the worst time to end up in an emergency room.

Even in NYC which is basically Ground Zero, there isn't a prohibition on non-essential travel, it's more like a strong recommendation. There is a prohibition on non-essential gatherings of any size.

Ride safe and stay safe, all.

It's pretty ridiculous that people can't drive or ride on the roads. Now if they were all congregating together somewhere, or were cruising around with a bus load of people, then monitor and police that.

Well, I might as well pour some cold water on all this cheer, lol.

I have not ridden. It's because 1. I take our Stay-at-Home executive order of governor seriously and try to abide it. 2. No way do I want to go inside an ER or Hospital as a trauma case right now. Increased risk of catching a [highly] contagious disease plus I'd be placing more load on an already heavily over worked health care staff due to my pleasure seeking gone wrong. I can imagine the way fatigued hospital staff might feel when they are stretched thin and tired as heck and in comes a trauma demanding stat attention and resources because he was out pleasure seeking when everyone is supposed to be only getting on the roads for essential errands or essential employment.

Ok, let me have it...
