Show me your AR slings please, I finally had some downtime to dress up my ARs and make em pretty.

What is a value AR sling that has some flex and what features should I be looking at?

I saw a few at a local gun show but the sling was around $95,

Not near the safe at the moment, but I've got MagPul slings on mine. Nothing fancy. Standard two point sling.

https://magpul.com/catalog/product/view/id/5575/s/ms1-sling/category/52/?mp_global_color=118

It's not about "dress up" for me - I use the sling to stabilize the rifle when shooting off-hand.

Now, in the "dress up" category, while maintaining practical use - I've got Turner slings on all my M1s and US Military surplus rifles. A combination of craftsmanship, looks, and yes, practical use because I use the sling on an M1 for the same purpose: stabilizing the rifle.

https://turnersling.com/

Turner makes a variety of slings for ARs, that meet competition rules, and they're a lot prettier than my nylon MagPul slings.

"Expensive" is subjective.

I’ve been using the Blue Force Gear 2 point slings. Good quality at a decent price.

Good sling material costs money as does the specialized hardware. Add assembly cost for a low volume item and it adds up.

Having a cheap sling break and dump your rifle can be expensive in other ways.

**DISCLAIMER NOT GUCCI** I don't have a pic on hand but I generally just use surplus USGI web slings. ~$6 shipped off ebay if you are patient and they work great for a standard 2 point setup.

The GI silent slings do work and are reasonably sturdy. They don’t offer a quick one handed length adjust, if that’s important to you.

The ultimate version of the simple sling is the IDF sling. Easy to attach to anything, comfortable, and cheap. I spend a little more to get the version with metal hardware.

I shoot m1 garand at the vintage/high power line, I have a few of those nice leather ones, yeah turner is the cat's meow, I picked up one from Champion Choice when they were out at Camp Perry,

I understand 2 point slings but what about those fancy, tacticool, single point slings for AR which has some elasticity for my fat neck and shoulders? I mean if I am out defending zombie attack I can't risk getting rashes on my sensitive skin from an overly tight. ;-)

Do I need an adapter to go on the buffer tube to attach the sling?

Hardware - How does one go about attaching said sling to an AR? additional hardware needed? I see the Magpul does not come with hardware.

The IDF slings are designed to attach with parachute cord loops.

Simple, cheap, effective, and quiet.

If you want quick detach (qd), either the hook or button hole, you can get some parts if yours doesn't have it already with the qd slot. For the rear it can be on the end plate and/or on stocks, alot of stocks comes with qd holes built in. For the front maybe on the handguard depending what handguard slots you have, some handguards come with qd holes already cut out in it, for two point sling. The thing with AR is there's endless accessories and manufacturers.

So for QDs I need:
1. QD sling hardware
2. 20 mm Pic QF mounts

The cheapest I could find was $11 for each of the above, as I will need 2 per gun, I think I will opt to just tie to the grips or rear of the rifle.

One rifle has sling mounts on the grips, I just need one of them to be QD as seen in the pic. instead of buying more stuff, I will experiment with what I have and figure out how to QD.

I have used:

-VTAC padded (Nice but bulky)
-BFG Vickers (sucked)
-Magpul MS4 (total clown shoes)
-HSP lightweight (Super light and comfy, but meh to adjust)
-Lead Faucet Tactical (Like a cross between HSP and VTAC. PERFECTION!)
-PIG Slider (You will rack yourself, just don't, unless you are running a PDW without a can).
