At my prodding had my son call local garage we use for service to flush anti freeze in his 2008 Mazda 6 4 cyl, has about 110k miles and he was told not a good idea may cause more problems. I don't get it, I've heard that about transmission fluid but not anti freeze. Any one have an idea why?

Probably just doesn't want to deal with it. Especially if the cooling system has a lot of plastic parts which have become brittle with age/heat cycling.

LT coolant appear to be the real deal anyways.

Is that the only local garage in town?
If there is more local garage, I would make an old school call and see who can do it.
Unless he wants to DIY, which is probably not too difficult at least to do a drain and fill.

Many shops and DYI like me drain what you can and replace with new coolant but don't wait 12 years. No chance of flushing chemicals left behind. Do it again next year or the year after if you want. Main thing is you replenish corrosion inhibitors.
