wow thats surprising for a nissan. they usually dont have the same longevity as hondas/toyotas.

she looks like shes still in pretty good condition for a 2008.

That's nice. Putting 300,000 miles on a car would take me 60 years, and I do not have 60 years left.

Impressive considering late model Nissan's were junk since the Renault venture.... You must have gotten a good one! I had a 2013 Sentra that started knocking and needed a new shortblock at 7500 miles. 20k miles later it did it again, I unloaded that POS quick!

Seeing an odometer roll over 300,000 miles is a beautiful thing. Congratulations to you and your Nissan.

It probably wouldn't mean much, but where was the Altima 2dr coupe made?

It's kind of a rare beast. I've seen very few of them over the years.

I'd have to check the VIN on there... That is a good possibility that where it was made may have helped a bit.

Yeah these are rather uncommon cars to see.... Especially the 3.5 VQ two door coupe... I have only seen about maybe 5-6 in the wild in all my travels...

You know another car that is rather rare in it's own way... A Lexus 2 door coupe.... I have seen maybe 3 of them ever. And one is in the neighborhood right to the west of me... A candy apple red 2 door Lexus coupe.

Nothing like the satisfaction of getting lots of miles out of a car. What kind of car is this? I've got a Nissan with a CVT but, I haven't been impressed with what I've read about the Nissan CVT's I just retired an '88 Ford Escort a few years ago that I used as a daily driver from 1993 till about 2012. I bought it from my brother in '93 with 146K miles. When I retired it it had never been rebuilt, the head had never been off of it and the only time the oil pan was off was to replace the gasket and clean the pick-up screen on the oil pump. Mileage was 518,xxx when I stopped driving it and it would still run. The reason I parked it is I'm disabled with chronic back pain and it needed more work done to it than I wanted to tackle. I wasn't going to pay someone $50-100 an hour to work on a car with half a million miles. Largest repair I ever recall on the Escort was a couple clutch replacements. The original clutch was changed while my brother owned at around 50K miles. Next clutch lasted 260K and the one that was in it when I parked it had about 210K when I quit driving it and was still doing great. I too used all brands of oil (10w40) anything from store brands to major brand dino's, never a drop of synthetic.

It's a 2008 Nissan Altima VQ two door coupe... Bought with 39,990 miles. Now with 300,000 miles plus.

It's my theory but I think the CVT in my car being a 3.5 L motor is a better match for a CVT... Enough power to keep CVT in proper operating status especially in high load low speed circumstances... But not too much power so the motor will totally kill the transmission.

I push my car hard quite a bit.... Just about daily to 5,000 + rpm... Though obviously 95 percent of the miles are easy highway cruising at 64-79 mph.

Smart man you are!
64 minus 9 = 55mph
79 minus 9 = 70mph

You would be in deep doo-doo without that digital speedometer. You have 9 MPH over the posted speed limit mastered, to help avoid that speeding ticket.....

Warms my heart to see someone take good care of their car, so congratulations bbhero, you are now a member of a rare club.

Congrats on the milestone! Did you notice any of the oils running quieter in the engine? Any favorite oils that were used when taking price out of the equation?

How far apart were the atf drain/refills spaced roughly?

Yeah man that is true... If they are well maintained. This car still hardly burns any oil and does not leak either.

Good question man... I have observed that Havoline Pro DS and Havoline DS, Havoline high mileage, Mobil Super, Cam2 SuperproMax, Cam2 Dexos1 Gen 2 full synthetic and Pennzoil Ultra have ran the most quiet in the VQ motor I have...

I am very impressed with the Cam2 SuperproMax and the full synthetic Cam2... The Cam2 SuperproMax is actually ACEA A5 B5 approved too.... Which is a tough spec to hit and a far amount tougher than API SN plus... I can get the Cam2 SuperproMax for $2.99 a qt at the country store in Charles City county west of me... And Napa in Smithfield sells it for $1.99 a qt per 12 qt case.

Earlier in my cars life it was 5k to 6k mile runs... Since about 225k miles I have cut it back to 3k mile runs... Kind of babying it a bit now. The CVT fluid change was very, very helpful... And helped quiet the car down running at low speed high load situations...

Got to the rental lot an hour before closing … they had 2 left: a big mopar van that needed cleaning and fuel … or a Nissan Versa … she bad, bad, bad to the bone ! first time I have seen hubcaps over steel wheels in a long time.
Figured out the transmission … Push it up, commit, commit, commit !
