Champion plug pulled from a customers jeep. Looks like a piece of copper wire where the porcelain meets the metal hex. Is that the seal that keeps the combustion from going out the plug?

I think, so but no sign of residue from that place up the outer porcelain.

I don't like that i see melted material on the working end though!

What up with that? Too Much Nitrous

I never liked the over extended tip plugs used on fords and mazda as an ignition, emissions "crutch"

What engine?

That is a manufacturing defect plug. I am sure they want to know about it.

Spark plugs are very high quality, new defects are VERY rare.

89 wrangler with a carb'd 258. The base of the carb was warped as well as having various vacuum hoses off, broken etc. Huge vacuum leaks. Just got the carb back from the machine shop. They used the finger remover( long story lol) to flatten the warped carb base.

Trying to get it to pass the California emissions test.

Ive seen that in Champs before too. Assumed it was a gasket or seal between the steel shell and porcelain.

+1

Back in the 60's Champions were the nuts.

My Nailhead took J12Y

And even JD built Subaru sourced USA made Champions instead of junk NGK.

Our old 94 Impreza 1.8 took heat range 8 champs and the 9's wouldn't run for &%^$ and the BKR6ES-11 NGK wouldnt run right either,

How things change.

Yep, ruins most things.

So now you can by lots of garbage stuff with all the money you made in speculation.

Looks like a seal of some kind that got dislodged. Also, that cylinder is seeing a small dose of oil and it is getting on the plug.
