Probably why Mann-Hummel went to their Korean arm for the 51334 filter too, which sees use mostly on Hyundais but many older Mitsus and Hondas use it too.

The box says “replaces” and not “this is an oem filter”. This topic is so old, every oil filter brand has a specific filter application for HyunKia. Just buy it and forget. If in doubt - OEM filter is only $6-7 and is available on eBay or amazon.

Not to argue, but the description says they bought OE filters to supply in their box. As the replacement. I posted mainly because it was such an honest assessment to even admit their filters don’t work right.

As the owner of a 2012 Hyundai Accent I appreciate their honesty. FWIW the only oil filters I feel confident in putting on my car ate the Hyundai OEM and Fram XG9688. Others I have seen used always seem to have the same issues.

Sounds like those engines have a max oil pressure regulation problem. Pressure spikes up to 280 PSI. eek

How's that even happen on those engines? Does the engine have a variable pressure oil pump or are people running N2O grunge matches in Korean econo instead of old Neon's and Cavilers now?

Hard to say, the pdf file says "we've secured an inventory of OE", the box says "replaces", "OE design"
Anyways, 26300-35503 filters were obsolete in 2016.
Now it's 26300-35505 already. Not sure what's the improvement, but hey why would you buy an old OE from another supplier when the newest OEM filters are available

Update: while it looks like a clone, it's def not a straight OEM filter in their box - branding is different, no mobis signs on it.

BTW this issue is also why I'm afraid to put a Champion filter on my Kia - it fits both Honda and hyunKia, so it's hard to tell if it's not going to fail

No date on the bulletin. Hate it when documentation doesn't have a date of release.

It does have the "W" on it though. It may be a Mann-Hummel without the markings to be sold on the Generic-Box market.

My local Walmart finally got Hyundai/Kia filters in stock for $5.98. It's the previous filter, the 26300-35504, not the newest 26300-35505. Even though I've been using Fram Ultras, I'll just start using the factory filter and change it out every oil change.

I've never had an issue with any filter on my Hyun/Kia vehicles, and I've used all kinds.

Seen similar discussed here in the past for Prime Guard oil filters. Linked is their filter TSB and it's been out awhile. Updated I think since link on old thread dead.

53' has posted several PG for Hyun/Kia spin on filter post use dissections, as far as I can remember all have looked good. In fact iirc, seems he said that's what they use as SOP for Hyun/Kia.
