For those of you in the Grand Rapids MI area next week all NAPA GOLD Filters are half price, be sure to verify at your location.

Would a Napa Gold be equivalent to a Fram Tough Guard?

Napa gold is the same as Wix. I think most on BITOG would agree Napa Gold/Wix are superior to Fram Tough Guard. YMMV

I searched for these sales for a few years in various parts of the country when I traveled and never found one. I have never seen one in the Houston area so this must be a very regional thing. Good deals for you guys who have them in your area.

All NAPA Gold filters on sale March 16 - 23, 2020 at NAPA Auto Parts, 303 N Main St., Euless, TX (between Dallas and Fort Worth). I have no connection with NAPA or this store other than being a customer.

I don't think so.
Both are solid filters for a 10,000 mile interval for most engines.
Wix/NAPA Gold have a lower filtration rate than Tough Guard.
Wix/NAPA Gold has metal end caps, Fram has fiber.
Both are synthetic blend media (but again Fram has a better rating), metal center tubes, and silicone ADV.
Wix/NAPA Gold costs almost 2x as much as a Fram, so this sale puts them at about the same price.

Don't know. .. Fram 7317 TG is $6.68... Wix 57356 not on sale at all is $8.99... Wix/Napa Gold filters in my area are not 2x as much as a Fram TG...

I think the Wix/Napa Gold are equal to the Fram TG..

95 percent vs 99 percent at 20 microns is not enough to matter at all.

And the Wix/Napa Gold casing for those filters are definitely heavier built than a Fram TG... And having seen a filter location on a friend's vehicle where it was in a very exposed location .... Give me a thicker can like the Wix Napa Gold.

Strange on the pricing differences, the Wix filters I use are cheaper than the TG. Sorry if I misrepresented the general consensus here, I was under the impression the Ultras were about the only Fram filter commonly endorsed here.

Nothing is endorsed and the "general consensus here" is irrelevant. It's just an open discussion about data on the filters, where such data is available.

Your right, I forgot about the price hike of the TG (I have not bought one in a few years since the Walmart clearance), so there is not much of a difference in regular retail price, and this sale price would put the Wix cheaper.

As for the thicker can, if it is an exposed place, the minimal difference in thickness may or may not make a difference. shrug

Efficiency wise, no they are not. Tough Guard is better.

Haven't seen the sign out for local Napa 40% off NG sale...yet. If pattern follows should be some time mid to late March. Makes the spin on ~$3.75-$4 depending on application. I prefer the construction type of the NG/(Wix) to it's equivalent competitor. Just me.
