Hi, I was taking a look at storm/security doors this evening at home Depot. I'm looking at a steel one with mesh on it so that I can use it in the summertime. I was speaking to one of the hardware guys at the store, he told me that the door would get screwed into the molding around the frame instead of into the stud frame. is that the correct installation method for that? seems very flimsy and not secure at all.

that's how its done, in my 40 plus years of home remodeling , I never had one come apart. Usually the molding around the outside frame (called brickmold ) is pretty strong...only problem I've ever seen was if the door didn't latch and the wind blew it open then you could have problems
