Yeah this. When I was shopping for my wife's prius last June the buyatoyota.com website was a hot mess. Couldn't really pin down any cars to any particular dealers. And dealers would get new cars on their websites (managed by 3rd parties) they didn't even know about, or had already sold/traded. They also refused to show VINs or stock numbers.

But I still bought the car, so I only positively reinforced their terribleness.

In general I find the bigger the company the worse the web site is because they set out to produce a website that is superficially impressive rather than one that efficiently conveys information. You know from the first page that it's going top be crap because the first page will be an utterly pointless time waster that conveys zero information.

If I want detail information on a new car the last place I would go is the manufacturers website.
