Hello everyone,

New to the group. I recently imported a 1993 Toyota Hilux 3.0 diesel. Does anyone have any information about how to find out if I can get filters here in the US? Thanks very much:)

The 1993 had the 3.0 liter diesel? What is the engine designation? From what I found the 1993 only had the 2.4 and 2.8 L diesels.

Please post some pictures of this vehicle.

Do you mean the 2.8L 3L Diesel, the engine was called the L engine, I can see where the confusion could be had.

I don't think there was a 1993 3.0 liter diesel.

Its an imported model, they may not have engine for the USA but the USA doesn't get many of the engines offered in other countries.

It doesn't look like it takes the 3/4"-16 thread oil filter many Toyotas(for the exception of the Toyobaru FR-S/BRZ and BMW-based Supra) that don't use a cartridge filter.

Toyota USA might have this. Otherwise, it looks like it crosses over into a Fram and Wix number that might be hard to find.

If it's Japanese domestic it will probably have a combined bypass filter on it. In NZ we call it a Ryco Z334, non bypass will be a Z9.

W712 according to MANN.i would check with a couple other filter suppliers first to be more certain.

Mahle OC67 fits the Hilux, and the Mann W940/81.

Not sure if EU and NA hilux use the same thread and gasket, but Mann and Mahle are both in your market. Infinitely better than the [censored]

The bypass filter has a 24mm thread, 19mm on the ordinary one.

Confusion with the L engines - 2L is 2.4, 3L is 2.8 and 5L is 3.0.

It has been for quite a while now, the moderators got tired of the term being used by people who make trolling posts with no supporting technical evidence.

And I 'd still like for the OP to confirm his engine but he hasn't been back since posting.

In 10th grade auto shop, we dropped a small block 400 (of course it was very modified) into a 1972 Hilux. We tubbed it, added a narrowed 9" rear end, I think it was 16" Mickey Thompson slicks, wheelie bars, 2 speed power glide, roll cage, and Recaro race seats. It ran high 10's in the 1/4.
