Engine is 24HP Shibaura

Northern PA. Can get single digits or worse in the winter. Should I avoid 15w40's?

Best to consult the manual, as the specifications usually change for the temperature range of intended use.

Are you are aware there are 10W-30 and 5W-40 and even 5W-30 diesel rated oils?

FWIW I would not be using a 15W oil in sub zero temps.

Running Rotella T6 5w40 in 30hp John Deere, started right up at 13 degrees the other night to plow the snow. I'd recommend that for yours as well.

I have a TC30 with the shibaura engine and I run 10w30 synblend year round either Rotella T5 or Valvoline premium blue.

If its parked inside a 10w30 would be fine but if its outside may wanna go with a 5w40 or 30.

Thanks, I'm going to stick with Rotella 5w40 being it can also go in the two Honda Ranchers with wet clutch's.

Check your owner's manual. There should be a chart for oils. If you have a freeze plug heater, and plug it in a little while before starting, I don't see why 15-40 won't work for you. I start my Fords down to zero this way.

My 2012 Ram Cummins says 0F and above 15W40 is good to go.
