You guys are aware that this is the humor section, right?

You're responding seriously to a punchline.

Funniest thing I've read in a while.

If they are willing to take someone like me..... I'm not sure I want to go.

I have one of their army knives. It's cool and all but doesn't seem very deadly.

I was in Switzerland for Fasching, before Lent, is a time to party....their Mardi Gras.....so I was.

I was so "happy" I said to a local, "I'd like to live here."

"Think twice about that.", he answered.

Becoming a Swiss citizen is like belonging to a snooty country club. If you have to ask, they don't want you. It's hard to become a Swiss citizen even when you are married to one.... and try to learn Schweizerdeutsch ; my Mom grew up there, is a native German speaker, and still could not speak it. Great people, though.

I realize this is just a joke about the flag.

But having lived there for a bit, I would recommend it. It made for an excellent base from which to explore Europe and specifically the Alps.

?

To what does this refer?

Switzerland is a neutral country; it did not surrender in WWI or WWII as this may imply.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Switzerland_during_the_World_Wars

Any alternate explanation is welcomed.
