I like having the 5qt containers to recycle the old/used oil. Pouring and recycling would be a problem.

Just got another 20qts of RGT for under $10 for 5qt including tax.

Took 3min to take a photo of the receipt.. and upload it to them.

As we speak, the RGT rebates are being denied at a rapid fire pace, Including mine. It claimed walmart was a participating retailer then suddenly it disappeared from the list. Jokes on them, I returned all my jugs tonight.

You can readily buy 10qt (2.5 gal) HDEO at Walmart today in plastic cans.

To me it’s an inconvenient format too.

I think the oil in a box thing is a great idea. Havoline did it right giving you 6 qts instead of 5. This one is a little big for the do it yourself crowd. No used oil storage and heavy will detour some people. I use the 6 gal boxes with a spout at work sometimes when on sale, but I heat my shop with used oil so storage is never a problem.

Given current pricing custom for single quarts, that's an expensive solution. Those folks can also do this:
Change #1: Buy 2×5 quarts, have 4 left over;
Change #2: Buy 1×5 quarts, use the previous leftovers, have 3 quarts leftover;
Change #3: Buy 1×5 quarts, use the previous leftovers, have 2 quarts leftover;
Change #4: Buy 1×5 quarts, use the previous leftovers, have 1 quarts leftover;
Change #5: Buy 1×5 quarts, use the previous leftovers, have nothing leftover.

The same principle applies if instead you need 7 quarts or 3.6 or whatever amount per change. My bottle of leftovers increases by 5-4.4= 0.6 quarts each time.

Just make sure you keep it separated from your boxed wine or you're in for a rude awakening! LOL

That is an impressive (no rebate) price for synthetic. I just haven't bought into purchasing large quantity oil in a box yet.

Hard to teach us old dogs new tricks.

When you have a 5.5~6qt sump like I do, the 6qt box is a game changer. Yeah this ST box is a bit hefty but once you got it up on the shelf that spigot is a nice touch. Just dispense it into an old milk/water jug or 5qt jug. If this goes on RB, making it an even better deal, I could see myself picking up a box or two, otherwise I simply have too much (rebate) oil on hand to be bothered right now with it. But for those without a stash, this isn't a bad idea/deal at all IMO. - in fact it's like getting an instant stash! LOL

I run into the used oil storage once in a while as sometimes I use quart bottles. A rinsed out milk jug (with screw on lid!) works well until I can recycle it.

To the boxed oil, not a bad "regular" price, but I find enough oils on clearance for $2 or less a quart, that I simply don't need to buy any full price. I'll do a rebate occasionally, but usually don't have to.

I must have gotten lucky, they sent me a $24 for one 5qt jug.

Well my wally world had 2 skids of various weights out in the main aisle leading into the automotive section..

The package looked a little cumbersome when I picked it up and noticed the pour spout is in the center of the box ,,,, with no side gauge to meter oil out of the package .

I only have one vehicle that is a 6 quart change so how do you meter what you pour into your motor? That is where the Havoline box excells when servicing my Freestyle.

If they went 15 quarts I think you could sell more with packaging in multiples of 5 quarts with no left overs (IMHO)

Its not hard to pour.
I literally have a tea/koolaid pitcher that I use solely for measuring oil out of 5 gallon buckets. You can find them here http://www.walmart.com/ip/Rubbermaid-Classic-1-Gal-Pitcher/16408617

They have all the markings for quarts on the pitcher itself.

They're even cheaper if you buy walmart branded ones.

Also, used oil gets dumped in a 5 gallon bucket with lid, which isnt that big of a hassle or expensive either (you can even get them free at times at your local Harbor Freight or Orschelen)
